Yes, the name kind of gives this place an 'also ran' or second fiddle status to Robson's other gem, Gallo Blanco.  But once you enter you get a different take on Mexican.  The Salads, Elote, Enchilada's, and Paella are all worth the drive up from Clarendon.

The folks behind Macayo's took note of the proliferation of $10 burger spots and applied the same principles to the beloved taco.  Some good options but they can't keep pace with the creativity and ambiance of other Valley high end taco spots like Barrio Queen.

This might be apocryphal but many in Latin America claim that God didn't rest on the 7th day, he celebrated by creating the empanada. A few visits to Republica Empanada and you will become a true believer to this sentiment.  While the place might have a serious hipster facade the owners behind the scenes are the genuine real article.
